Ai Tong School was established in 1912 by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan, making it one of the oldest Chinese-medium primary schools in Singapore. Originally located in Ang Siang Hill, the school has a storied history of providing quality education rooted in Chinese culture and values.
In 1992, Ai Tong School relocated to its current site in Bishan to accommodate a growing student population and to offer modern facilities. Throughout its history, Ai Tong School has consistently upheld its commitment to academic excellence and character development, adapting to the evolving educational landscape while preserving its rich cultural heritage.
Unique Programs
BiCEP (Bilingual Competence Programme): Ai Tong School offers the BiCEP program to enhance students' proficiency in both English and Chinese. This program includes various activities designed to promote bilingualism and biculturalism, ensuring students develop strong language skills and cultural understanding.
DSA (Direct School Admission): The school participates in the Direct School Admission exercise, allowing students to secure places in secondary schools based on their talents and achievements in areas such as sports, arts, and academics.

SAP (Special Assistance Plan): Ai Tong School’s SAP was launched in 1989 to preserve the rich traditions of Chinese schools and pass on Chinese culture and values. The program aims to develop students who are fluent in Chinese and deeply rooted in Chinese traditions, preparing them to connect and engage with China in the future.

The Phase 2C success rate of 44% is relatively decent and fares better than several other schools. The good part of this area is the close proximity to Catholic High School and St. Nicholas Girls'. While this area lack of new condominiums, we found one that not only is a good new development but also within 1km to Ai Tong and CHS. Alternatively, AMO Residences will be completed in 2026.
